“Unless we are making an effort to wake up, most of us are sleepwalking, enslaved by the Unconscious. Automatons do not make decisions consciously. Only awake and aware individuals do. If we are conscious, we can create a destiny that is in alignment with our Essence. On the other hand, if we do not change our habitual way of being, the future will certainly be a repeat of the past. The problem is that we are caught in a dream and do not know how to wake up. As Life continues cycling through the same “lessons,” through familiar patterns of distress, we keep providing the same types of responses and getting the same distressful results.

Because we have turned away from Essence, our awareness of the holy present has faded. Therefore, our task is to reawaken to the Presence of God in all things.

What we can do to interrupt our forgetting is become aware of the trappings of our personality and stay conscious of our surroundings. Honor all things as holy. Awaken to our aliveness. Be in awe of Creation. Listen to the birds with joy and admiration. Observe faces in the crowd in reverence. Be humbly present in the room with our loved ones. We can notice, with gratitude, our body breathing us and acknowledge the Presence and the Power of the universe that at this very moment gifts us life.

We can cherish the inner expression, our essence, and wake up to our bodies and our senses.”
